Environment vs. Economic

We support environmental controls over economic success

The natural environment plays an important role in supporting economic activity.

Natural environment contributes directly by providing resources and raw materials such as water, timber and minerals that are required as inputs for the production of goods and services. Moreover, natural environment also contribute indirectly through services provided by ecosystems including carbon sequestration, water purification, managing flood risks, and nutrient cycling. In short, natural resources are all vital for securing economic growth and development in a long term .

Human life is more important than economic well-being

Taking care of millions of people who are starving is more important than saving natural resources. We cannot expect developing nations to share the green concerns of developed countries when they are faced with dire poverty and a constant battle for survival.

Bad environment will threaten us all

We have already wasted and destroyed vast amounts of natural resources, and in so doing have put earth at risk. We must preserve the earth for our children and grandchildren. In any case, poverty and environmental damage are often linked. Destroying the rainforest gives native peoples nowhere to go except urban slums. Polluted water can lead to crop failures. Climate change will turn fertile fields into desert and flood coastal areas where hundreds of millions live. Developing countries have to choose sustainable development if they want a future for their people

GMO

Thailand should allow genetically modified organisms

Genetically modified food is no different from any other scientific advance, thus should be legal to use.

Genetic modification is entirely natural. Current techniques are just faster and more selective. The changes caused by selective breeding have been just as radical as current modifications. Wheat, for example, was cultivated, through selective breeding, from an almost no-yield rice-type crop into the super-crop it is today.

Genetically modified organisms can solve the problem of food supply in the developing world.

The possible benefits from GM food are enormous. Modifications which render plants less vulnerable from pests lead to less pesticide use, which is better for the environment and therefore lead to higher crop yield, which finally leads to lower food prices for all. In short, it can solve the problem of food scarcity in many countries such as Ethiopia and South Africa.

Genetically modified organisms will prevent starvation due to global climate changes.

The temperature of the earth is rising, and the rate of increase is itself increasing. As this continues, foods that grow now will not be acclimatized to the hotter conditions. In order to solve this problem, the best way is to support the GM crops as it can be made specifically to deal with the hotter conditions.

Fruit batteries

Materials
- fruit or vegetable
- metal
- paper towel
- multimeter

Procedure
- roll the fruit a little so it become juicy inside
- insert one electrode material into the fruit or a vegetable
- insert a second electrode into the juicy part of the fruit
- collect data

Oxidation Reduction reactions

Procedure:
1. Mix potassium nitrate with powdered sugar 3:2 ratio in a napkin
2. Take observations
3. Wrap napkin into a little stick
4. Place in beaker
5. Lignite

The mixture reacts aggressively. The endothermic reaction giving out so much heat that it burns and creates a little ash bomb.

Why my fish died

In this lab, we are trying to find out what is the cause that make fishes died.

We make 8 samples, bromothymol blue is added in 4 of them. The temperature was measured in the table below
Sample
Temperature (celcius)

1.       Why do they die?  What's your hypothesis?
Answer: because the temperature was too high and the plant can't get enough sunlight
2.       What are our variables?
Answer: temperature, pH, O2
3.       Which container increased in temperature the most?
Answer:
4.       What were the initial temperatures?  Are there any increases

Multicolor electrolysis

Acid and Base Indicators Electrolysis

Materials
- Petri dish
- Universal indicators
- Beakers
- Battery
- NaCl
- Electrode wires

Procedure
1. 1 mole of NaCl was measured by the digital weight measurement (58.5 grams)
2. the water was prepared in the beaker and the salt was dissolved in it
3. the universal indicator was added into the solution
4. the wires were connected to the battery with both ends connecting to the solution
5. observe and collect data

Questions
1. Why is the universal indicator green when you first add it?
Answer: because the solution was neutral on that time

2. Why can we use the pencils to run a change
Answer: because can be an electrodes that carries electron

3. What is the color at the cathode?
Answer: purple

4. What is the color at the anode?
Answer: yellow

5. What happens when you place the niobium magnet? Why?
Answer: it creates a magnetic field that make the electrons to form a particular shape

6. What is the equation for the electrolysis of water? Without electrons and volts
Answer: H+ + OH- --> H2O

7. Why can we dump the solution down the drain?
Answer: becuase the products were gases

Titration Lab

We did the experiment on titration. The goal of this lab is to determine the pH changing of the unknown solution.

The concept is simple, when acid and base are mixed, it will changes the pH of the solution. Titration is a method most scientists use for finding pH of an unknown solution, by calculation mol used in order to make the solution neural.

Where I want to be in one year

I want to be in the university, get into the medical faculty and studies about human anatomy as I've always dreamed of.
